Is the META description tag really important?

The importance of the META description tag is vital. It gives search engines and users a unique summary of what the page is about. META descriptions are slightly longer than page titles You can validate the length of your description by using various seo tools. Google will use the meta description for the summary of the search results if it cannot match a section of content from your web page .Search terms will appear in bold. As with the title tag, meta descriptions should contain unique summaries for each of your web pages. Be creative and compelling as this will likely cause a user to click. Avoid copying and pasting the title tags and repeating phrases over and over. Keyword stuffing once again is not a good idea. Ideally a 2 sentence summary is generally accepted as a quality description.

How can I make better page titles?

The title tag lets users and search engines know what the topic of the web page is about. It's important to create unique, accurate page titles for each of your web pages on your site. Title tags are displayed in search results at the top of each website listing. Having good page titles aid users by recognizing if the page is relevant to the search query. The query terms will appear in bold for each result. You might want to put information such as a business location, phone number or other associated search terms. Your title tag should be brief, descriptive but straight to the point. Avoid using the same long title tags for all of your web pages and remember to accurately describe the page's content. It's not a good tactic (black hat) to stuff keywords in the title tag because Google will only show a portion of it in the search results. This also creates the risk of your site being banned from Google.
